    I refuse to buy a dog with a docked tail from a breeder who doesn’t have the proof a vet did it. it’s not that bad. it’s done young and under anesthesia.

    see a rottie with a tail and one without a tail swimming, and you see what i mean.
    the rottie with no tail , hangs with the back part, the one with a tail have there back part at the top of the water, works like a balance on them..

    docking the tail is not cruel its just like getting a circumcision or getting the umbilical cord cut. its not cruel as long as a vet has performed the surgery!

    not only americans docked their tails.. it was fairly common in alot of countires, though more and more people are keeping the tails now which I think is a good thing.

    My rottie did that up until she was about 3 or 4 years old. But she’d always get excited and urinate etc. when she hadn’t seen a person in awhile. And the licking…I don’t know.

    Great dogs, require a TON of training and socialization for the safety of both the dog and others. I’m on my 7th Rottweiler, and there is a definite consistency in their attitude and demeanor. Smart, funny, needy, and protective, these animals should only go to owners who are serious about their training as well as their interaction time–the dog demands a ton of attention. Fortunately, they are a real joy to be around when properly trained!

    I have had Rottweilers for over 30 years now and every one of mine have been wonderful, loving companions. I couldn’t imagine a better breed of dog.
